The Sound of Entanglement

Year 2025

Documentary

What does quantum entanglement sound like? “The Sound of Entanglement” is a groundbreaking synergy of art and science which transforms one of physics’ most mysterious phenomena into a live audiovisual experience.

It was first realized as a special composition called “BruQner”, on September 4th 2024, Anton Bruckner’s 200th birthday, in Mariendom Linz, Austria. This documentary follows a team of scientists and artists in the days leading up to their premiere. The music was conducted by a quantum physics experiment and played live for the first time as an opening act of the Ars Electronica Festival, being also part of the festival “Anton Bruckner 2024”.

The team worked for over 16 months to make it happen. Although the piece was inspired by Anton Bruckner's "Perger Präludium", nobody could know what it was going to sound like.

A project of the Upper Austrian KulturEXPO Anton Bruckner 2024 in cooperation with Ars Electronica and with the kind support of LIT-JKU, VCQ, the University of Innsbruck, TU Wien, SFB - BeyondC and the Cultural department of the City of Vienna.
